EXOBONE - WinnerGear

WinnerGear is a well-known company with some of the most revolutionary mobile accessories. They were the first to launch the reversible micro USB cable and their patented car mount sold over 1M units worldwide and they were one of the first 5 companies to launch true wireless earbuds in 2015, even before the AirPods.

Now they've entered the bone-conduction business and they do it better than anyone else by implementing Qualcomm's latest chipset and noise reduction microphone. Their design is quite unique as well and you can easily fold it in your pocket

There's a good reason why bone-conduction headphones are one of the hottest trends among athletes these days.

If you're running, riding your bike, and even doing group exercises like CrossFit, you understand the importance of open-ear headphones.

The ability to enjoy your music and still being aware of your surroundings is priceless, especially when you're next to cars (or just sitting in your office).

It feels like having a portable lightweight Bluetooth speaker next to you that only you can hear (even someone sitting next to you won't hear it).

So what's the best model out there in 2020?

Check the list below (sure, I get paid if you buy some of those models, but I could add any other bone-conduction headphones and still get paid...) and learn more about the leading brands out there and find the right one for you.

If you ask me, the most important features (that's a conclusion I came to after testing almost every possible solution under the sun) is not what most people think, like battery and sweatproof coating. In my opinion, it's fit and bass (the highs are always there, if there's enough bass you'll be able to enjoy a wide range of sounds including R&B and even podcasts would sound better).

The good

  • Idea, it's different so it won't shake and snap on the back of your head
  • Bluetooth 5.0
  • Easy pairing (important when dealing with bone-conduction)

The bad

  • Fit
  • Absolutely no bass

As someone once said, here's for the crazy ones.
No, it doesn't fit well or sounds too good, but the fact that someone out there decided to go on a different path and try a new concept with bone-conduction headphones, makes us appreciate him and place him on the list. The fact that it felt like it's about to fall, especially when running, is a different story and that's why he's ranked at the bottom. But let me tell you this, if someone would make it with great fit and amazing sound, it can easily become our winner.

  • CVC noise canceling for voice call
  • Lightweight

  • Not the longest battery life

Most of the waterproof bone conduction headphones would fall and usually be very bulky (due to their extra plastic for water protection. However, JAWBEAT is changing it with their silk and elegant design. And still, they have IPX5 water resistance certification.

One of the most interesting devices out there. Not sure about the tech behind it but the sound is amazing. There are some signal drops near traffic lights (I guess because of the wifi) but the water resistance is great, and I sweat a lot. The only disadvantage is the incoming call quality.

The good

  • Supports MP3
  • 4GB internal memory
  • Waterproof IPX8, up to 3 meters

The bad

  • Horrible fit
  • No sync with any streaming service such as Spotify, which makes the internal storage quite useless to be honest

I'm not a swimmer but many of my friends are. Headphones are always their main topic when they start speaking about swimming, especially swimming gadgets. If you've ever tried swimming with Bluetooth headphones, then you already know it's not the best idea. With all the tech out there, it simply doesn't work. So what does work? Bone-conduction headphones, but it's still lacking so many features in order for it to become the mainstream among swimmers, that it only got to the 6 places on the list. But it had to be on the list, because of the demand.

Other Factors to Consider

In some cases, we saw unique features that we couldn't ignore. Those weren't very popular among users but it still affected the final score.

Advanced Features

Value

Obviously, when you're looking for the best product, it means you'll have to pay. Some devices are way overpriced and in some cases, you can find a great deal (at least in my opinion). We also took their retail package (the way they pack and ship it) into consideration to make sure our winner will be the best value for money.

Criteria Used for Evaluation

One of the most important features of massage guns is noise. It's not exactly a "feature" but if it's too loud you simply can't use it (trust us on this one).

Sound Quality

Technology

The adjustability is the ability of the massage gun's arm to adjust to different angles so you'll be able ot reach your own back (yes! It's possible)

Call Quality

The worst thing that can happen to you is to find out you have no battery 5 min before your workout. That's why we've placed the battery life on top priority.

Battery Life

Here we've tested several things. First is the materials the company used to make the attachments, then the shape of the tips, and lastly the ease of replacement.

Comfort

A massage gun is a device that supposed to reach the deepest layers of your muscle and break the knots. In order to achieve it, you must have a powerful massage gun, and that's measured by the stall force.

Water Resistance

Last by not least, is the comfort. It doesn't matter if you use it for 5 min once a month or 5 hours every single day, the massage gun must be comfortable. The score was given based on the weight, handle, battery location, motor location (too close to the handle means it'll shake why using it).

About Me

Hi guys,

Hi guys,  Thanks for reading my blog :)  I'm an industrial designer and in my spare time I work out (a lot).  Working out 6-7 times a week and sometimes twice a day.  Every morning I'm going for a 10-mile run and sometimes I also do SUP surfing.   After my day job (around 6 PM) I hit the gym for 2 hours and I also try to do at least 3 boxing classes per week, that's my true love since I was a little boy (unfortunately it's hard to put food on the table in this business).  I'm 35, living in a beautiful place called Levanto (in Italy) and I invite you all to contact me and even come for a fitness trip.
